Biography
Los Angeles Harpist Hee Jin Yoon graduated in 2006 with a Master of Music from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she is currently finishing up her doctorate as a student of Gillian Benet Sella of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She also received a Performer Diploma from Indiana University with Distinguished Professor, Susan McDonald and a Bachelor’s Degree from Seoul National University. Yoon has performed in the Master Classes of well-known harpists such as Yolanda Kondonassis, Ursula Holliger, Sarah Bullen and Kathleen Bride. She was the Cincinnati College-Conservatory Concerto Competition winner in 2012. Yoon also won Honorable mention in the Victor Salvi Awards in 2007 and 3rd prize in the Busan MBC Broadcast Competition. In 2006, she was the finalist of the American Harp Society Anne Adams Harp Competition.
Yoon is very active as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician. As a soloist, she has performed Debussy’s Danses sacrée et profane with Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major, K. 299 with CCM Philharmonic Orchestra of University of Cincinnati, Handel’s Concerto Op.4 No.6 with the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro and Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Oboe and Harp with the CCM Concert Chamber Orchestra. Yoon is principal harpist of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra in Ohio and has played in the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Korean Broadcast Symphony (KBS) Orchestra and Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously Yoon was on harp faculty at God’s Bible College in Cincinnati from 2009-2012. Ms. Yoon recently moved to Los Angeles where she maintains a private harp studio.
